Meet Will Gwin

For Will, recovery is a mindset that carries into every part of life — his focus is helping clients take what they build in counseling and put it into practice in their everyday lives for lasting change.
Will Gwin is a Licensed Addiction Counselor Candidate (ACLC) at Trailhead Counseling & Recovery Center, where he provides individual counseling and facilitates group sessions within the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Outside of Trailhead, he also works with a local sober living home, helping residents build daily life skills and staying active with them through outdoor activities that support connection and healthy routines in early recovery.
Will grew up in northeast Florida before relocating to Montana, drawn west by a love of the outdoors. Through his own life experiences, he came to personally understand the role that time outside — hiking, biking, and simply being in wild places — can play in mental health and recovery. That perspective informs how he connects with clients and encourages them toward balance in their own lives, alongside the counseling he provides.
After settling in the Flathead Valley, Will was inspired by the strength of the local recovery community and the mentors who invested in him along the way. That inspiration led him to enroll at Flathead Valley Community College, where he completed the coursework and clinical training required to become an ACLC. He is now finishing his Bachelor's degree in Social Work at the University of Montana.
Looking ahead, Will plans to pursue a Master's degree in Social Work and begin accruing clinical hours toward his Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential, with the goal of continuing to grow his clinical skill set so he can better serve clients throughout their recovery journeys.
